Creator of Makiko Method – Posture Balance Approach
Natural Healing & Lifestyle Consultant
Posture & Movement Specialist
As a Natural Healing Artist, I created the Makiko Method – Posture Balance Approach to heal and restore Human Nature.
My good posture training began when I was born. My grandmother, Tsuneko, was proud of having last samurai blood and was the maternal head of my family. She, my Mother, and my Aunt are traditional Japanese musicians who taught and performed Kabuki Theater music.
In my grandmother’s time, the Japanese valued Posture more than Money or Looks because Good Posture represents well-being, especially healthy mind and attitude. My grandmother used to say, “…well, he is a rich man. But he has a slouched back. So you may not be able to trust him all the way. ”
She taught me to strive for Good Posture to thrive as a well-balanced being.
After moving to NYC to start a Dance career with Martha Graham Dance company, I had to pay close attention to people’s body language and posture because my English was not good enough. In doing so, I learned to read people’s Posture Balance. Do you know our bodies talk more than our mouths ? And our bodies express Honesty; even when our words do not. Our current posture reflects our past, and represents our potential future. It encompasses all aspects — anatomical, physiological, psychological, emotional, and spiritual – as One Being.
Therefore, our posture reveals the fundamental root causes of health issues, such as backache, headache, insomnia, ear-ringing, mood swings, anger, anxiety, etc. As I helped my clients, I realized that many alternative healing modalities in the U.S. focus on one aspect of our being. A common Western medicine perception is that body, mind and soul functions can be treated separately which limits our capacity to heal, develop and emerge as Whole Beings.
My Whole Healing method, the Makiko Method—Posture Balance Approach, guides my clients back to their natural path. They regain their sense of wholeness and ownership of their being which opens up their innate healing abilities, allowing them to heal naturally.
And please remember that Nature heals Itself !
I went through some health problems that stimulated my curiosity about Human Health and Wellbeing.
One year after moving to the U.S., I experienced food and cat allergies. As time passed, my body rejected more foods, including eggs, milk, tomatoes, and some fruits. This experience made me more aware of the impact of food on health.
Then a backache incident interrupted my dance aspirations. So I started to become more deeply involved in Natural Healing and Health. It was the beginning of Makiko Method – Posture Balance Approach.
As I helped more clients, I reconfirmed that bad posture also reflected a dysfunctional digestive system. Excessive sugar, flour, and processed foods, as well as overuse of medications, were common factors that typically caused their abdomen to expand and swell to the point of discomfort.
Naturally, people’s posture also worsens without proper abdominal muscle functions to support their anatomical structure. Our gut from the mouth to anus forms the center of our body, and the well-formed gut lining is critical to achieving good posture, good humanity and good behavior. So, I have continuously promoted overall Nutritional Education research, including development of my own practices and processes.
Becoming a certified GAPS (Gut and Psychology & Physiology Syndrome) Diet practitioner, further elevated Nutrition within my Posture Balance approach.
Bottom Line: We cannot function properly as well-balanced Beings without optimal energy provided by balanced Nutrients.
Moreover, as I worked with clients with Autism, I realized that I had certain Autistic symptoms. Please read Discovery of My Autism – Swiss Cheese Holes.
